A king size bed with storage is a 150 x 200 cm frame that gives the space under the mattress back to you. Two mechanisms exist: drawers that pull out from the side, and an ottoman base that lifts on gas pistons. Drawers need 45 cm of clear floor beside the bed, an ottoman needs 40 cm at the foot or on one side. Will a king size storage bed fit, and can the drawers open?

A king size bed frame takes about 160 x 215 cm of floor. Add 60 cm for one walkway, 75 cm each side to be comfortable. Type or slide your room size in centimetres: the plan redraws to scale.

A 320 x 340 cm room fits a king size bed comfortably.80 cm on each side and 125 cm at the foot: room for two bedside tables. Minimum for any king size bed: 280 x 300 cm with one 60 cm walkway; 310 x 300 cm for 75 cm on both sides.

Where will a king size bed with storage open?

Drawers need 45 cm of clear floor to pull out. If the bed sits with one side against a wall, choose a frame with drawers on the free side only, or a side-lift ottoman that opens away from the wall. A bed in the middle of the room can take drawers on both sides.

Under a sloping ceiling or in a box room, an end-lift ottoman needs only 40 cm at the foot and nothing at the sides.

How much storage does a king size bed with drawers have?

Two drawers of about 90 x 45 x 20 cm give roughly 160 litres; four drawers about 320 litres. An ottoman base gives you the whole 150 x 200 cm footprint instead, though none of these makers publishes the depth under it, so we do not convert it into litres.

Can I fit a king size storage bed in a small bedroom?

The frame is the same size as any king, about 160 x 215 cm. What changes is the clear space to open the storage: 45 cm beside the bed for drawers, 40 cm at the foot for an end-lift ottoman. In a room under 3 m wide, an end-lift ottoman is usually the only storage option.

Do storage beds need a special mattress?

Both take a standard UK king mattress of 150 x 200 cm. None of the makers behind our ottoman frames publishes a maximum mattress height or weight, so we do not print one; what matters is that the base closes flat and stays down.

Which is cheaper, drawers or ottoman?

Drawer frames and ottoman frames both start at £399. Per litre of storage the ottoman is far cheaper: about four times the volume for a similar price.
