Why white oak
Solid oak, and what the word means here
Every frame on this page is described by its maker as solid North American white oak. That matters because a lot of beds sold as oak are oak veneer over particle board, or oak-effect paint over pine. Where one of our other beds is oak over veneer, its own page says so, and it is not on this page.
In king size these frames measure 160 to 164 cm wide on the outside; each product page gives the super king width too. Headboards run from 93 to 104 cm.

Oak Bed Frames, answered
Is solid oak worth the price over oak effect?
Solid oak can be sanded and refinished, and it does not chip to reveal a different material underneath. Oak effect is cheaper and lighter. It depends how long you intend to keep the bed.
Does solid oak change colour?
Oak darkens slightly and warms in tone with light over the years. That is the timber, not a fault.
Why white oak rather than European oak?
These makers use North American white oak. We describe what they use; we make no claim that one is better than the other.
