Black Metal Bed Frames
Six black metal bed frames, from £219 for a single and £319 for a king size. Five are powder-coated steel and one, the Callum, is wrought iron. The Havana is black with silver detail; the other five are plain black.
Every frame is sold frame only, with its slatted or mesh base included, and the size shown on the card is the outside size of the frame rather than the mattress it holds. Delivery is free to the UK mainland in 3 to 5 working days, except the Callum, which is made to order and takes 6 to 8 weeks.

Room check
A black frame is read as one solid shape
Against a pale wall a dark frame reads as a single block, so it is noticed more than a white or grey one in the same spot. That is taste, not measurement, and measurement is what decides whether the bed fits. Allow roughly 2.8 x 3.0 m of floor for a king size frame with one 60 cm walkway, and 3.2 x 3.4 m if you want to walk both sides with bedside tables.
The outside width of our black king size frames runs from 153.5 cm to 155 cm, and the length from 209 cm to 213 cm, so none of them is the 150 x 200 cm of the mattress inside. The figure on each card is the outside one. If you want the full chart, read the king size bed dimensions guide.

Black metal bed frames, answered
Does the black finish chip?
Powder coating is baked on and hard, but a sharp knock on a corner will chip it, and on black the bare metal underneath shows as a pale mark. A touch-up pen covers it. Chips mostly happen while the bed is being carried upstairs, so unpack near the room rather than at the front door.
Is every frame on this page pure black?
Five of them are. The Havana is the exception: it is sold as black and silver, with silver detail on the head and foot ends. If you want flat black with nothing else on it, choose the Meridian, the City Block, the Alderley, the Miami or the Callum.
Do black frames show dust?
More than pale ones, yes, in the same way a dark car does. A dry microfibre cloth is enough, and no frame here needs a special cleaner. Abrasives should not be used on any powder-coated finish.
Does a metal bed frame creak?
A metal frame creaks when a bolt works loose, not because it is metal. Tighten every bolt once the bed is fully built, then again after a fortnight of use. The Callum is wrought iron with heavier sections and less to work loose.
Which sizes can I get in black?
Single, small double, double and king size are all available in black. Super king is available on the Callum only, at £839. The size box on each product page shows what is in stock in that colour.
