Chenille Divan Bed with Drawers, Single to Super King

Mattress	90 x 190 cm (UK single)
Frame outside (W x L)	90 x 190 cm
SKU	KSB-WBDCHN-S-AUB-D0

Description

A platform top divan base in chenille, made to order in 7 colours, 36 cm high, from single to super king, with no drawers, 2 or 4 drawers. From £199 in single and £299 in king; the mattress and headboard are not included. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery: about 1 to 2 weeks to make, then the carrier.

The cover is chenille, a soft woven fabric with a short, slightly fuzzy pile and a matt look, in aubergine, black, brown, charcoal, cream, mink or silver. The colour photos are the maker's fabric swatches; the shape of the base is the same in every colour.

Of the three fabrics on this base, chenille has the widest choice: seven colours, from cream and silver to aubergine. It is the matt option, with no sheen, which makes it the easiest of the three to put next to a headboard you already own.

What you get

Divan base on a solid timber frame with a flat, non-sprung platform top (a "hard top" divan)
Chrome glider feet, which slide on hard floors so the bed is easy to move for cleaning
Chrome link bars between the two halves, so there is no centre leg
No drawers, 2 drawers or 4 drawers, on the side you choose
Assembly instructions in the box; the maker says many configurations need no tools
Mattress and headboard not included

Sizes and height

A divan base is the width and length of its mattress, with nothing around it, so it takes less floor space than a bed frame of the same size. The base is 36 cm high in every size, before the mattress.

Size	Base width x length	Height	Drawers
Single (3ft)	90 x 190 cm	36 cm	none or 2
Small double (4ft)	120 x 190 cm	36 cm	none, 2 or 4
Double (4ft 6in)	135 x 190 cm	36 cm	none, 2 or 4
King (5ft)	150 x 200 cm	36 cm	none, 2 or 4
Super king (6ft)	180 x 200 cm	36 cm	none, 2 or 4

Add the depth of your mattress to the 36 cm to get the sleeping height: with a 25 cm mattress, you sleep at about 61 cm. Our UK bed size guide shows every size drawn to scale.

Drawers

Left and right are as you lie in the bed. Two drawers can go on one side, or one on each side; four drawers are two on each side. The single takes two drawers at most. If the bed stands against a wall, put the drawers on the open side. The maker does not publish the inside size of a drawer, so we do not print one.

Price

From £199 in single, £249 in small double, £249 in double, £299 in king and £349 in super king, without drawers. Two drawers add £40, four drawers add £80.

How it compares

Same base, three fabrics: chenille, crushed velvet and plush velvet, at the same prices.

Other divan bases on this site: suede, linoso, hopsack, velvet and faux leather, all from another maker, with a curved headboard option and a shorter delivery time.

Care

Vacuum the base now and then; for a mark, a little mild detergent on a damp cloth, dabbed rather than rubbed. That is the maker's advice for all its fabrics.

Will it fit your room?

Type your room. We check it against the maker's outside size of the size selected above, with a 60 cm walkway on each side and 85 cm at the foot.
